The Grayscale Series

"Heels Down” (2025)

24x30 oil painting on canvas. Inspired by Sam’s real-life experience of “pushing one’s heels down” while riding a horse. Sam wished to evoke the weight, motion, and physical pressures the rider feels while cantering a horse.

This is one of Sam’s only oil paintings, as she typically works with acrylic.

“Bridled Mare” (2025)

8x10 acrylic on wood panel. A close-up portrait of a horse wearing an English bridle.

"Skylar Brandt” (2025)
