About Sam

Sam grew up outside Chicago in Northwest Indiana. She has since lived in multiple regions of the US due to her husband’s service in the Navy. In 2022, she and her husband decided to settle in Upstate New York, north of Albany.

She began selling artwork in 2016 — custom pet portraiture and original creations. She also began teaching art classes at this time and has continued to work at various art studios and community centers as she’s moved across the country. She has found she enjoys art instruction as well as personal creation.

Currently, Sam is focusing on original artwork (although she still loves creating a pet portrait for commission)! Animals have always been a main subject of hers. She loved drawing dogs, cats, and horses as a child, and today is building a series of equine-related large-scale portraiture.

An artful wardrobe is important, too. Sam enjoys fashion, the study of dress history, and sewing/altering her own clothes to fit her inspirations. After having recently assisted and designed in film and theatre costuming, she hopes to be able to do more with fashion in professional settings.

Among her professional art ventures she explores dance more casually, loving ballet in particular as an outlet for creative movement.

She wishes to continue building her presence as a working artist and wardrobe specialist — while mothering her four year-old son (and beloved cat).
